To the Golden Shore...
In 1812 Adoniram and Ann Judson arrived in Burma to begin a ministry that would change the country in more ways than anyone could have imagined. Over the next 38 years of ministry they would see a church planted among several different tribal groups, Adoniram would tanslate the Bible, write the Burmese dictionary and translate many science texts and literally change the future for this country on the other side of the world! In addition to the triumphs there were heartbreaking setbacks; two of his wives and several of his children would die in Burma, Adoniram himself spent more than two years in a death camp, surviving only by the grace of God and the help of Ann. It is truly an amazing story, and I would encourage you to read the biography "To the Golden Shore" by Courtney Anderson.
In a couple of weeks our team will head out for this beautiful country and the people who are a legacy of Judson and his efforts in Myanmar (the new name for Burma). We have the privilege of working with the church which remains to this day amid persecution and hardship.
We truly consider it a privilege to work among our brothers and sisters in Myanmar.
We have had to cut back on the number of conferences we can do on this trip due to budget shortfalls, but we are confident that God's work will be accomplished. We are still going to have the opportunity to impact about 200 leaders on this trip and for that we are truly thankful. We have made plans to return to Myanmar this summer to conduct the rest of the conferences.
Please pray for our team both now and in the coming days. Here are some specific requests:
1. Pray for the remaining funds to come in before we depart on February 6
2. Pray that our visas will be granted by the government of Myanmar. Our passports are at the embassy now.
3. Pray for the pastors and leaders who will attend the conferences, pray for their families while they are away.
4. Pray for our families while we are away.
5. Pray that God will be glorified by all that is said and done while we are in Myanmar.
If you have questions about this trip or how you can be a part of it, please don't hesitate to contact us.
