Phriday is for Photos

The sacrifice that some have made for the sake of the Kingdom is truly humbling. These are the graves of the Rev. Durlin Lee Brayton, his wife, daughter and son-in-law, in Yangon Myanmar. The Rev. Brayton arrived in Myanmar in 1838 and worked among the Pwo-Karen tribe until his death in 1900. That's 62 years of sacrificial service!

Today the Pwo-Karen have a strong church and mission among the hill tribes of Myanmar. These graves are just outside of Brayton Memorial Church in Yangon.

The Aquila Project has had the honor of working among the Pwo-Karen as well over the past couple of years. We have found them to be totally committed to the cause of Christ and the expansion of His kingdom throughout Myanmar. The Rev. Brayton is still revered for his commitment to their people and the sacrifices he made in order to plant the church. It is our prayer that God will raise up many more Durlin Brayton's in the coming days...

That all may hear!

On the Road...

Saturday I'll be leaving for a trip to Phoenix and to California. One of the joys of this ministry is being able to tour and meet with our ministry partners in order to share the impact of their investment in the lives of sacrificial servants.

Pray for me as I will also have the privilege of meeting with others interested in becoming a part of our financial support team.

If you are in the Hesperia area, I'd love to visit with you as time permits. I'll be in Hesperia, CA from 10-17 through 10-23. Email me at David@theaquilaproject.com or Ed Adams at Ed@theaquilaproject.com to inquire how we can connect.

I'll be worshipping with Fellowship Church, Anthem, AZ on October 16th (service times at www.fcanthem.com ). Pastor Ted indicated that he will introduce me to the congregation, and there may be some type of "interview". If you know Ted Baird very well that could be a frightening experience. (just kidding)

I'll be speaking at Trinity Baptist, Palmdale, CA on Wednesday, October 18th. Directions and service times at www.trinitypalmdale.org

I'll be speaking at 1st Filipino Baptist Church in Lancaster, CA on Sunday, October 22nd. That church is located at: 836 EAST AVE I Lancaster Call (805) 945-2897 for service times.

Ed and I are also to be guests on a Chrisitan Television show in Hesperia as part of a discussion about stewardship and missions on October 19th. The show will also play our promotional DVD to their audience! What an incredible opportunity.

It is always great to spend time with Ed and Ellie Adams. These two beautiful people are wonderful hosts and better friends.

Keep us in your prayers as the schedule is busy, but the work is joyful.

Thanks for taking this journey with us!

discontent and hope...

there seems to be growing discontent welling up in my heart these days as i watch the news and hear of tragedy after tragedy. we live in a day of war, grinding poverty, and corruption which can wear down even the most "positive" believer and yet we are called by God to proclaim the coming of his kingdom into our everyday world...

there are days when this task seems overwhelming, especially in light of the difficulties faced by our friends and partners around the world. yet in the midst of the discouragement come stories of amazing victories and humble service to our King, and it seems like this mission just might work! together we really can see God's kingdom brought to bear on a world that so desperately needs grace and hope. i never cease to be amazed that God has chosen to allow us to be His hands and feet in this world to proclaim the good news to the corners of this globe.

i want to leave you with an old franciscan benediction which i have shared here in the past but i love the message of this prayer...

"may God bless you with discomfort at easy answers, half truths, and superficial relationships, so that you may live deep within your heart. may God bless you with anger at injustice, oppression, and exploitation of people, so that you may work for justice, freedom, and peace. may God bless you with tears to shed for those who suffer from pain, rejection, starvation, and war, so that you may reach out your hand to comfort them and to turn their pain into joy. and may God bless you with enough foolishness to believe that you can make a difference in this world, so that you can do what others claim cannot be done."

that all may hear!
