Pray for Cambodia
Our team is preparing for this summer's projects in Cambodia, and the excitement grows as the day of our departure draws near. Our team will depart the Tulsa on the 29th of June and head to Phnom Penh. Please continue to pray for the finances and preparations necessary for this project to be successful. We have about 196 pastors and leaders awaiting our arrival!
The following story came across my desk this morning and I want to share it with you as a reminder that the struggle of our brothers and sisters in Cambodia is ongoing. Most of us could not imagine what it would be like to be in this type of situation. Will you join me in praying for the Church in Cambodia?
"On Friday, April 28th, a partially built church building in Beong Krum Leu, 30 km east of Phnom Penh, was destroyed by approximately 300 local Buddhists. Che Saren, chief of the district, told the Associated Press the Buddhists felt threatened by the visible presence of another religion. Chanting 'destroy the church' and 'long live Buddhism', the villagers tore down the church and burned the rubble. According to Ros Sithoeun, a local Christian, the police gave the villagers a lecture on the laws of religious freedom, and the two sides have come to a peaceful agreement. The Christians did not file complaints with authorities nor demand restitution. There are currently 20 to 30 Christians in the village." (VOM-Canada)
Please join us in praying for these, our brothers and sisters in Christ, as they seek to live out the gospel in a hostile place. May their sacrificial attitude in response to the persecution be a witness to others in the village. Oh, that we would respond in such a manner to those who oppose us...
