The Aquila Projects Role...

Having established the fact that our God is a global God, who will be glorified by the nations of man. I believe it is important to take a look at the role The Aquila Project is playing in the fulfillment of the Great Commission. David and I are both convinced that the "balance of power" in the international Christian community has shifted away from the West, and is now focused on the 2/3's world. This shift presents incredible opportunities for the continued growth of the Church around the world, as God raises up Godly leaders for His church. The role of the Western missionary has shifted from that of being the "Senior Partner" (i.e. setting the agenda, controlling the funds, etc) to that of being the "Junior Partner" who comes alongside the church to offer encouragement and support.

The Aquila Project is committed to being this "Junior Partner". It is our belief that if countries like Myanmar and Cambodia are ever going to come to Christ, it will be through the ministry of the indigenous pastors and not Western missionaries. During our travels across Asia, God has allowed us to meet some incredible men and women of God, who are doing an amazing job leading the church. Their biggest needs are for training, both theological and professional, as well as encouragement. The U.S. Center for World Missions in Pasadena, California estimates that there are about 2 MILLION pastors in our world who have no theological training. Can you imagine trying to lead the church when you have had no training at all? Can you imagine opening your Bible to prepare a message for your church, and have no idea where to start? This is the situation for many of our brothers and sisters tonight in places like Myanmar, Bangladesh, Cambodia. We are committed to taking training and encouragement to as many of these individuals as we can.

In the last two years The Aquila Project has had the privilege of providing training and encouragement for just over 500 leaders across SE Asia. In 2006, we have been invited to provide training for almost 700 leaders in Myanmar, Cambodia, and Thailand. Please join with us as we pray for God's continued provision for this ministry and the open doors to take this ministry to more leaders around the world.

That all may hear!
