Praying for Muslims
I hope that you will join me in praying for Muslims around the world during this month of Ramadan. Below is some interesting info about Ramadan and some specific prayer thoughts...
September 23 marked the beginning of the 2006 celebration of Ramadan, the Islamic month of fasting. Muslim people around the world will neither eat nor drink--even water--from dawn to dusk. Fasting each year during the month of Ramadan is one of the five required actions that define Muslim faith and life. Through this difficult physical regimen, Muslims seek to satisfy Allah’s requirements and gain favor with Him.
The Quran assigns two purposes for fasting during Ramadan: self-discipline and commiseration with the hungry. Muslims who are able are urged to provide voluntarily food for a poor neighbor one day during the fast. As Muslims daily struggle to control their physical hunger this month, pray for them to recognize their spiritual hunger.
Ask God to open Muslim eyes to recognize the biblical truth that all people are sinners whose righteous acts are like filthy garments (Isaiah 64:6). Pray that during this month, Muslims will hear and receive the Good News that Jesus Christ has become our righteousness through His holy life and sacrificial death.
Pray for them to realize that not only is God the source of all physical food, He is also the only one who can satisfy their spiritual needs. Ask God to enable Muslims to encounter and understand His Truth on the radio, on television, through cassettes, Scripture or other print media, and in the words of believers. Pray for their salvation!
Thanks for taking this journey with us!
David
