security in myanmar...
we have been back from our most recent project for just over a week, and already our attention is turning to the fall project in myanmar. ed adams and i are scheduled to be in myanmar the last two weeks of october and the first week of november, and are looking forward to spending time with our good friends there. we have been invited to teach for one week at the institute for missions and church planting (IMCP), a small bible school founded by our good friend, john cuai sang, and then we are scheduled to travel to the city of pwin oo lwin to work with our friends from the lisu christian church.
please begin praying now for this project as the security situation in myanmar is changing very rapidly, with the government beginning once again to harrass the church. some friends of ours just returned from myanmar and their report has caused some concerns. it seems that the government has increased their attention on the church and especially on foreigners working with the local churches. the city of mandalay is pretty much shut down for foreigners after a group of korean missionaries were expelled from the country after creating a stir in the city. hotels are being placed under tighter controls and being expected to tell the government exactly what their guests are doing while in the country. needless to say this has caused us some concern...
however, the aquila project is committed to working in restricted access countries and will not abandon myanmar just because the situation proves difficult. please pray that god will grant us wisdom as we work with our local partners in myanmar to determine the best way to carry out our work this fall. please pray that god will provide the necessary resources in order to make this project a reality, and pray for the 150 students who are scheduled to attend.
once again, thank you for all that you mean to this ministry. your prayers and financial support make this work possible. together we are having an impact on the kingdom of god is southeast asia!
that all may hear!!
