institute one - kompong thom
we are back from Kompong Thom, which I think is short for "Cricket capital of the universe" - man there are lots of those buggers there - and lots of "cricket traps" to catch them, and lots of fried crickets on platters for sale by the roadside - happy to report our digestive tracts have been certified "cricket free zones" (as far as we know).
teaching went well - the leaders kept up with the pace required to complete Romans in a short time, and every time we reviewed and "quizzed" they were right on the money concerning the themes and details of the study. Teaching Romans 13 was difficult "everyone must submit himself to the governing authorities". When you live in an oppressive society that certainly isn't the message you want to hear, but we were able to communicate that while Paul seemingly was writing in absolutes, he was adamant ab0ut the fact that as believers we are to be concerned with the Kingdom of God not the Kingdom of man. We then walked through several passages that described when believers didn't obey government authority (Daniel, the Hebrew midwife who didn't kill Moses, Shadrack, Meshack, and Abedingo) and talked about living a life of consecrated to God. It was a great discussion.
not much to eat there (besides crickets) - Kyle and Jeff both got a touch of the intestinal bug (that's the nicest way I know to say it) but Caleb and I are in good shape. both Kyle and Jeff are fine now -
Glad to be back to Phnom Penh - Luckys ( a fast - food burger joint) was a virtual feast last night. chicken nuggets and a burger, fries and a big coke. Caleb and Kyle finally understood why we like Luckys so much.
Headed off to begin our session on the Sermon on the Mount here in Phnom Penh. This is the fourth time we have been with this group, so it is like "old home week".
evidently the rainy season has arrived "early" - it has rained like crazy most every day. Some days longer and harder than others.
Thanks for your prayers, now that we are in Phnom Penh, we will be able to give some additional updates.
Thanks for taking this journey with us!!!!
