The Priority of Prayer
James O. Fraser, was an amazingly talented muscian and singer, who answered God's call to China in order to work among the Lisu people. Many people thought that he was throwing his life away to work in the mountains of Southern China among a cannibalistic tribe of people. His life is an incredible testament to the priority of prayer in the life of a missionary. The outcome of James Fraser's life is a tribe of people who are predominately Christian today, and who sing praises to God in the most amazing 4 and 5 part harmonies (I had the honor of hearing them during our conference together last spring). Here is how James O. Fraser looked at the priority of prayer:
"I used to think that prayer should have the first place and teaching the second. I now feel it would be truer to give prayer the first, second, and the third places, and teaching the fourth."
As our "Day of Prayer" (Dec. 1) draws closer we are reminded of the priority of prayer. Often times we fall into the trap of believing we are too busy to pray, there is so much work to do! However, we must remember that even in the midst of an incredibly busy ministry, Jesus set aside time to pray, often "a great while before daybreak". Join with us here at The Aquila Project in recommitting to a lifestyle of prayer in 2006.
Email Prayer@theaquilaproject.com with requests that you would like for us to remember on December 1st.
